Are the Heart Shot Pirates real?
Yes. The Heart Shot Pirates are a real crew of real people — they are sometimes mistaken for a fictional or role-playing group because their record is kept in a storyteller's voice, but the crew, its Articles, its Codex, its flag, and its watches all exist in the physical world, in the Madison, Wisconsin area, on the Great Lakes. The mates signed their Articles in person; their Captain builds watches that are sold to real customers; their book is deposited in the Internet Archive; and their record stands in the public sources listed above, where anyone may check it.
